Mini bio
How it started.
Growing up in South Kilburn, Knucks traded grime bars with friends before finding a new direction in hip-hop. Nas was a key influence: his first project, Killmatic, arrived in 2014 with a title that nodded to Illmatic.
Finding a sound.
The self-produced “21 Candles” helped introduce him to a wider audience in 2015. NRG 105 followed in 2019, then London Class in 2020. His music makes room for detailed storytelling alongside soul samples, jazz textures and drill rhythms.
The place that made him.
Alpha Place takes its name from the street where he grew up, with Alpha House naming his block. The 2022 album includes Stormzy, SL and Venna, and shared the MOBO Album of the Year award with Little Simz’s Sometimes I Might Be Introvert.
Looking back to Nigeria.
For 2025’s A Fine African Man, Knucks turned to his experiences at boarding school in Enugu and his Nigerian heritage. Its collaborators include Tiwa Savage and Phyno. A ChopNotSlop edition followed in 2026, alongside new collaborations with AntsLive, Bawo, Budgie, The Alchemist and Children of Zeus.
