Mini bio

How it started.

Born in Germany and raised in London, Arlissa first entered a recording studio at 15. Hearing Linda Perry in 4 Non Blondes helped them see a distinctive voice as a strength. An early song, “Hard to Love Somebody,” reached Nas, who joined the track in 2012.

Finding their own audience.

After early label and management deals proved frustrating, Arlissa began sharing acoustic performances online. The original “Hearts Ain’t Gonna Lie” video arrived in 2016, followed by a version with Jonas Blue in 2018. Songwriting also opened another path, including a co-writing credit on BTS’s “Spring Day” and writing and performing “We Won’t Move” for The Hate U Give.

Keeping an open heart.

Arlissa released the debut album The OPEN-HEARTED independently in October 2023. In interviews, they described writing through heartbreak and learning to trust their own creative choices. The songs follow the emotions of a relationship ending while making space for self-worth and love.
