Mini bio
How it started.
Ben began YouTubing at 12, sharing his interest in natural history, evolution and dinosaurs. He went on to study palaeontology at the University of Portsmouth, turning that curiosity into videos about the history of life.
Growing with the science.
His channel combines prehistoric animal explainers, convergent evolution and reviews of the science in documentaries such as Walking With Dinosaurs. The Earth 600,000 Years Ago marked the channel passing 600,000 subscribers in 2024. The weekly news series 7 Days of Science also announced its move to a separate channel that November.
Beyond the screen.
Ben and fellow creator Doug James helped raise more than £10,000 for disadvantaged students to join the THRINAKS expedition in South Africa. They joined the month-long Karoo field trip in August 2021 to document the experience. By 2025, Everything Dinosaur described Ben as holding a master’s in palaeontology when the pair visited to film its T. rex reconstruction.
