Mini bio
How it started.
Ben grew up with guitar music around the house and began playing as a child. Open mics and a steady run of gigs helped build an audience. Early EP covers were hand-drawn; Keep Your Head Up and The Wolves date back to his university years.
The first chapter.
Every Kingdom arrived in 2011, recorded in cellist India Bourne’s barn and produced by drummer Chris Bond. In 2013, Ben won the BRIT Awards for British Breakthrough Act and British Male Solo Artist. The second album, I Forget Where We Were, reached UK number one in 2014.
Following the sound.
Noonday Dream followed in 2018, and its Nica Libres at Dusk won an Ivor Novello Award in 2019. Aaron Dessner helped produce Collections from the Whiteout in 2021. For Is It? in 2023, Ben worked with Bullion, bringing drum machines, samples and altered guitar sounds into the songs.
