Mini bio

How it started.

Born in London to Scottish parents, Bishop grew up in Tokyo and Hong Kong. Watching her dad sing Frank Sinatra at karaoke helped spark her interest in performing. She later moved to Los Angeles to study at Musicians Institute and played small local shows.

Finding “River.”

After George Robertson caught a songwriter’s round performance, Bishop began working with producers Mark Jackson and Ian Brendan Scott. “River” became her 2016 breakout and reached No. 3 on the Alternative chart. Church of Scars followed in 2018, then CHAMPION in 2019.

Songs for a new chapter.

Her third studio album, Tell My Therapist I’m Fine, arrived in October 2024. Bishop told GRAMMY.com that making it helped her reconnect with music after the death of her sister Kate, who had also been her manager. The album draws on the bands Kate introduced her to, including My Chemical Romance and blink-182, and features Travis Barker on “Isolated Love.”

Behind the mask.

In 2023, Bishop won season nine of The Masked Singer as Medusa, beating fellow finalist David Archuleta, who performed as Macaw.
