Mini bio
Poetry came first.
Born Roger David in Karachi, Bohemia moved to Northern California as a teenager. He wrote poetry as a child and played keyboards before developing his Punjabi rap style. His father’s harmonium playing and the poetry of Mirza Ghalib were early influences.
Finding his voice.
His early music drew on the experiences of South Asian immigrant youth in California. Vich Pardesan De, released in 2002, reached listeners through BBC radio. Pesa Nasha Pyar followed in 2006, bringing his Punjabi verses to a wider audience through Universal Music India.
From records to screen and studio.
Bohemia wrote, produced and rapped on the title song for Chandni Chowk to China, and contributed to 8 x 10 Tasveer. In 2012 he performed Paisay Da Nasha on Coke Studio and released Thousand Thoughts. The album won Best Non Resident Punjabi Album at the 2013 PTC Punjabi Music Awards.
A catalog that keeps growing.
Later work includes Same Beef with Sidhu Moose Wala and the 2024 album Rap Star Reloaded. His 2025 and 2026 releases span solo tracks, Punjabi collaborations and film music, including Champagne Cadillac, Mera Pind, Jagga Soorma and Kaali Hoodie.
