How it started.
Behind the stage name is Kashif Rana. In a 2023 interview with Aaj News, he traced his interest in singing to joining a music group in Sheikhupura around 1982 or 1983. Studies came next, and he later returned to music under the name Chahat Fateh Ali Khan.
Before the videos.
Music followed another public pursuit: cricket. Geo News reported that he played two first-class matches in Pakistan in the 1983–84 season, then played club cricket in the UK for 12 years. He also worked as a minicab driver in London.
Finding his audience.
His singing videos spread through social media during the pandemic. His unofficial Ye Jo Piara PSL Hai brought wider attention in 2023. In 2024, his rendition of Noor Jehan’s Bado Badi became a major viral moment, before copyright complaints led to its removal from YouTube.
Keeping the songs coming.
His catalogue includes cricket songs, love songs and reworkings of familiar tunes. In 2025 he released singles including Disco Singer, Love Mera Hit Hit and Yes I Know. His own channel describes his work as singing, acting, comedy, producing and directing.
