Mini bio
How it started.
Chris grew up in Southwestern Ontario and found a lasting love of learning at university. His path into children’s books came through parenting: as a scientist with young children, he wanted science on their bookshelves and saw self-publishing as a way to write while continuing his academic career.
A book for the family.
In 2013, he made an early version of Quantum Physics for Babies as a novelty book. Encouragement from his wife and children led him to improve it and print it through CreateSpace. His daughter took it to preschool, where the teachers’ enthusiasm helped persuade him to put it on Amazon. Small but steady sales encouraged more books.
The breakout.
A post from Mark Zuckerberg brought the books a much wider audience, according to Chris’s own account. Quantum Physics for Babies became part of Baby University, his series introducing science and mathematics to the youngest readers and the adults reading with them.
Curiosity at every age.
His work now spans early learning, interactive adventures and adult nonfiction. Quantum Bullsh*t and Cosmic Bullsh*t examine scientific misconceptions, while his essays explore quantum computing, AI and the ways people reason about unfamiliar ideas. Alongside his writing, he has contributed to science experiences such as Questacon’s Quantum Tomorrow exhibition.
