Mini bio
Early days
Growing up in Utah, Cory learned mountain survival skills from his father. He went on to combine climbing with a camera, documenting expeditions in places few photographers could reach.
A turning point
In 2011, Cory climbed Gasherbrum II in winter with Simone Moro and Denis Urubko. The team's descent included an avalanche, and Cory's footage became part of Anson Fogel's film Cold. His climbing and photography career accelerated afterward, including regular assignments for National Geographic.
Beyond the summit
After stepping away from climbing and photography in 2021, Cory began telling more of his own story. His memoir The Color of Everything and photography collection Bi-Polar explore adventure alongside his experience of bipolar disorder and mental health.
