Mini bio
How it started.
Delina grew up in North Carolina and began experimenting with makeup as a teenager, mixing foundations at home to get the finish they wanted. Work at MAC and a bridal makeup business in North Carolina helped turn that curiosity into a career.
Finding a village.
Moving to New York opened the door to fashion and celebrity work. Delina became a full-time freelance artist in 2015 and credits mentor Crystal Wright with helping them understand the business. In a 2025 interview, Delina described Issa Rae publicly praising their makeup on Instagram as a turning point that brought new momentum.
Beyond the makeup chair.
Delina’s work includes serving as Issa Rae’s personal makeup artist on The Photograph and doing makeup for Rae’s Who What Wear editorial. Their natural-glam approach puts skin preparation and a person’s own beauty at the center.
Conversations and community.
With It Takes A Village, Delina brings founders and creatives into conversations about the people behind their careers. Exploring Harlem takes that interest into the neighborhood, introducing friends and Black-owned businesses. More recently, their podcast has expanded into solo reflections on self-development and connection.
