Mini bio
How it started.
dodie began sharing songs and videos online in 2011. In a later interview, they remembered the first doddleoddle upload as an original song written for school homework. Bedroom performances, covers and conversations with viewers gradually led to YouTube conventions, their own shows and larger tours.
From videos to records.
The early appeal was personal: ukulele songs, layered harmonies and lyrics that let listeners sit with complicated feelings. Their first independent EP, Intertwined, arrived in 2016. You followed in 2017 and Human in 2019; all three reached the UK Top 40, with the latter two reaching the Top 10.
Room to grow.
Their illustrated memoir Secrets for the Mad appeared in 2017. In 2021, debut album Build A Problem reached No. 3 in the UK, expanding their music into orchestral arrangements. Hot Mess followed in 2022, before dodie formed FIZZ with friends Orla Gartland, Greta Isaac and Martin Luke Brown. The band released The Secret To Life in 2023.
The next chapter.
dodie contributed “Someone Was Listening” to Life Is Strange: Double Exposure in 2024. Their second solo album, Not For Lack Of Trying, followed in October 2025, produced alongside Joe Rubel. Its 2026 deluxe edition revisits songs with friends at Middle Farm Studios, while Not For Lack of Clarinets gives the album a new live arrangement.
