Mini bio
How it started.
Ellen built her early online identity as Mango Island Mamma around vegan family life on Maui. In a 2016 interview, she described editing YouTube videos and writing ebooks after her children went to sleep. Her own biography says her plant-based eating began for health reasons and grew into a commitment to animals and the environment.
Finding her audience.
Family food, parenting, and island routines became her calling cards. By 2019, she appeared on a cover of Raise Vegan as its quarterly edition reached U.S. newsstands. Her recipe books include Epic Vegan Food, Epic Vegan Cravings, and Epic Plant Powered Kid Food.
Making room for conversation.
The Ellen Fisher Podcast began in 2021. She describes wanting people with opposing views to listen to one another and find common ground. Its conversations range from plant-based eating and birth to relationships and finances.
A changing relationship with the camera.
Ellen and Andrew raise five children in Hawaii. She also created The Empowered Pregnancy & Birth course with her sister and other contributors. In her February 2025 Reroot interview, she discussed sharing less of her children online and reconsidering the balance between income and family life.
