Mini bio

How it started.

Emma began Lolita Says So in 2009 while studying at university, using it as a creative outlet for images and, eventually, her own photography. She studied Art History & Museum Studies at the University of Leeds from 2009 to 2012, alongside magazine internships and freelance work.

Finding her lane.

After graduating, she became Beauty Editor at Notion, then wrote about beauty for RUSSH after moving to Sydney. Her first paid blog jobs came in 2015. Back in London in 2016, she became a full-time beauty creator, especially known for explaining skincare. In 2020, GLAMOUR named her its Skin influencer winner.

Behind the pictures.

Photography runs alongside her beauty work: she shot Dora Larsen’s AW20 campaign and describes herself as self-taught. On The E-mail, she shares personal writing as well as photography lessons. In a May 2025 interview with Oh My Cream, she also introduced Sancta, a body-care brand she had recently co-founded.
