Mini bio
How it started.
Before the Tribe, there was Nomadness TV. While living in Japan, Evita realized friends and family were not coming to visit, so they began filming everyday life and turning it into webisodes for Facebook and a blog. The videos made a life abroad feel closer to home.
Finding their people.
In September 2011, Evita created NOMADNESS Travel Tribe with 100 people they had met traveling. Word of mouth helped the group grow. It gave travelers of color somewhere to connect, trade experience and find people who understood the pull of seeing the world.
From community to screen.
NOMADNESS expanded into group trips, The NOMADNESS Project with Issa Rae, and a festival launched in 2018. In the 2017 TED talk “Reclaiming the globe,” Evita connected the community to the history of Black travel and the Green Book.
The stories now.
Evita describes their current creative focus as writing for the screen and hosting travel stories. Their destination work includes Palm Springs and Baltimore, where a film celebrating the city’s civil rights legacy brought a second Emmy in 2025.
