How it started.
Jackie began posting beauty videos in summer 2009 while serving in the Army Reserve and living in Hawaii. After hearing that certain makeup trends would not work on a deeper complexion, Jackie made tutorials that showed otherwise. Those early videos adapted looks for skin tones that beauty counters and online tutorials often overlooked.
Making room in beauty.
The tutorials grew into a platform for product reviews, humor, and conversations about representation. In 2018, Jackie received the NAACP’s first YouTuber of the Year award and collaborated on nine additional Born This Way foundation shades with Too Faced. A 14-shade Anastasia Beverly Hills palette followed in 2019.
From creator to founder.
In 2020, Jackie and Denis Asamoah launched FORVR Mood with candles and accessories. Perfumes followed in 2024. Alongside the brand, Lavishly Jackie shares self-care, home décor, and luxury content. Jackie also helped bring Black beauty history to the screen as an executive producer and participant in the 2022 docuseries The Black Beauty Effect.
