Mini bio

How it started.

Jimmy Khan began as a songwriter at home, then started singing in a Lahore restaurant on weekends. His early solo releases included “Pehla Pyar” in 2011. By 2013 he was building Jimmy Khan & The Big Ears, a collaborative band project that released “Nadiya” at the start of 2014.

Songs that travelled.

“Nadiya” took him to Coke Studio’s seventh season, where he performed with Rahma Ali. “Baarish” then became part of Ho Mann Jahaan. Jimmy had already written and composed it before director Asim Raza chose it for the film; he also worked on its background score and co-produced the title song.

Folk, film and collaboration.

His live folk album Tich Button brought familiar Punjabi songs into the studio. For Parey Hut Love, he sang “Haye Dil” to Azaan Sami Khan’s music and Asim Raza’s lyrics. His independent work includes “Madam,” made with members of Pakistan’s transgender community, and “Dilri Lutti,” featuring sitar player Rakae Jamil.

A quieter chapter.

The three-song Shukar EP grew from songs Jimmy wrote during travels in northern Pakistan after lockdown. Produced by Haniya Aslam, its 2023 releases “Ghar,” “Jeenay Kay Mazay” and “Shukar Hai” explore belonging, moving forward and gratitude.
