Mini bio

How it started.

Joyce began with a small Bible study before work in St. Louis. In her 2005 Larry King interview, she recalled inviting her employees to meet at a restaurant at 6 a.m. on Wednesdays. She and her husband Dave founded their independent ministry in 1985.

Reaching a wider audience.

Radio and television carried her teaching beyond those early meetings, with her television ministry beginning in 1993. Enjoying Everyday Life and the bestselling Battlefield of the Mind became central to her work, bringing her practical approach to Scripture to readers and viewers around the world.

The story behind the teaching.

Joyce speaks openly about surviving childhood sexual abuse and credits her Christian faith with helping her recover. That personal history runs through her teaching on thoughts, emotions and relationships, and through her 2026 memoir My Battlefield.

Beyond the broadcasts.

Her ministry’s Hand of Hope outreach supports feeding programs, medical care, clean water and disaster relief. In 2023 she founded Hope Mountain Ranch in Mount Pleasant, Utah, which also serves as a base for the ministry’s U.S. outreaches.
