Mini bio
How it started.
Jun was born in Seoul and moved to New Jersey in 2001. Friends encouraged Jun to post a violin cover of ‘Lighters’ in July 2011, just before starting at Northwestern. The videos became a way to keep playing while studying radio, television, and film, often recording in a dorm room.
The breakout.
The 2012 ‘Gangnam Style’ cover combined violin playing with dancing through editing. It won a competition held by PSY. Jun also won Kollaboration Chicago that year, then took part in the Los Angeles event.
From covers to the stage.
Jun went on to perform at KCON and join BgA with Ryan Higa, David Choi, Philip Wang, and Justin Chon. As JUN, Jun released the first solo single ‘When I Call’ in November 2017, directing the music video and sharing choreography duties with Franklin Yu. ‘Hold it Down’ followed in 2018.
Finding the spark again.
In April 2025, Jun returned to full-length YouTube covers with a new version of ‘River Flows in You X Wedding Dress’. The accompanying message described finding renewed enthusiasm in late 2024 after stepping away for four years, with plans for original arrangements and original music.
