Mini bio

How it started.

Memphis is at the center of K. Michelle’s musical story. Her childhood listening mixed R&B with country, including The Judds and Lee Ann Womack. In a 2009 DJBooth interview, she was already talking about bringing country into her songs while promoting “Fakin’ It,” her single with Missy Elliott.

Finding her audience.

Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta introduced her to a wider audience in 2012. Rebellious Soul followed in 2013, with “V.S.O.P.” and “Can’t Raise a Man” among its songs. The album entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2, and she won Best New Artist at that year’s Soul Train Awards.

Songs and screens.

Her catalog grew with Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart? and I’m the Problem. Television and acting became part of the story too: she plays Bebe in Lifetime’s Single Black Female films and joined The Real Housewives of Atlanta for Season 17.

Coming home to country.

She signed with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville in 2024. “Jack Daniel’s” arrived in 2025, followed by the country album Jesus & Whiskey in October 2026. Its songs bring her personal storytelling into music rooted in the sounds she grew up with.
