Mini bio
School friends, then bandmates.
Jaffer Zaidi and Maaz Maudood had attended the same school since first grade, but became friends in ninth grade. They began working together as teenagers; Kaavish dates its formation to 1998.
The song that opened the door.
Bachpan became their first music video in 2005, directed by Umar Anwar. In a 2006 interview, Jaffer traced the song to a small scene after a difficult exam: a child on a motorcycle, happily eating chips at a traffic light. That contentment brought childhood memories into focus.
Taking time with Gunkali.
Their debut album Gunkali brought the duo together with producer Faisal Rafi and musicians including Gumby, Aamir Zaki and Omran Shafique. A February 2010 album profile reported its January 15 release after a long wait, and described lyrics contributed by Nayyara Noor and Anwar Maqsood.
Songs to return to.
Their Coke Studio work includes Nindiya Re, Faasle with Quratulain Balouch, and O Yaara with Abdul Hannan. More recently, Rung paired them with the Anirudh Varma Collective and flautist Rohit Prasanna, while Intezaar arrived in 2026. Their channel also shares concert documentaries that let fans revisit the live performances.
