Mini bio
How it started.
Before The Blonde Abroad, Kiki worked in wealth management. Studying Spanish in Spain in 2008 gave her a taste for independent travel. In 2011, she left her finance career and traveled through Australia, Southeast Asia and New Zealand.
Finding her voice.
Her own origin story places the birth of the blog in Bolivia in March 2012, while she was volunteering with literacy organization Biblioworks. She built it into a place where women could find practical travel advice, destination guides and photography tips.
Bringing readers along.
TBA Escapes began with women’s tours in South Africa in 2017. Kiki later expanded to destinations including Jordan, where a partnership with FUJIFILM USA let attendees borrow cameras and learn photography. Forbes included her among its leading travel influencers in 2017.
The next chapter.
Family travel now sits alongside her solo travel advice. In 2026, Kiki and her son spent the year living and traveling abroad, beginning with several months in Cape Town and continuing through Africa and Europe.
