Mini bio
How it started.
Raised in Henniker, New Hampshire, Kristen moved to Salt Lake City in 1985 to attend the University of Utah. Mogul competitions and ski filmmaking followed. She became known in the early 1990s for big mountain skiing and cliff jumps, building a career in a scene with few women.
A different relationship with fear.
Kristen retired from professional skiing in 2003 and studied Zen. Her later work centers on changing how people relate to fear, an idea she shares through workshops, online teaching and The Art of Fear, published in 2017.
Still connected to the slopes.
Her Art of Fear Ski Camp at Alta brings that work back to the mountain. The camp focuses on mindset and emotional awareness, with evening sessions and skiing in groups matched to ability.
