Mini bio
How it started.
Born in Rome, Mariacarla spent childhood years in Italy, Kenya and the United States. She told Vogue Italia that she decided to become a model at 14, kept going through unsuccessful castings and found early support from agent Piero Piazzi.
Finding her place.
A Comme des Garçons contract and Karl Lagerfeld’s interest helped establish her career. She became a close creative partner of Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy, while building a body of runway and campaign work across houses including Chanel, Dior and Valentino.
Making the whole picture.
Her 2021 K-Way collaboration let her work on both sides of the camera: she helped create the clothes, directed the campaign and photographed it, as well as modeling. Her daughter Marialucas appeared in the project too.
