How it started.
Charli grew up in Norwalk, Connecticut, and spent years as a competitive dancer before finding an audience online. They started posting on TikTok in May 2019. An early duet with @move_with_joy helped their dance videos reach new viewers that July.
The breakout.
On November 22, 2020, Charli became the first TikTok creator to reach 100 million followers. Dance remained central, while their work expanded into a book, Essentially Charli, and the Hulu family series The D’Amelio Show.
From the phone to the stage.
Charli and Mark Ballas won season 31 of Dancing with the Stars in 2022. In October 2024, Charli made their Broadway debut as Charmion in & Juliet, eventually extending the engagement through September 2025.
