Mini bio
An unexpected beginning.
Mariah graduated with a psychology degree in 2015 and worked at a faith-based nonprofit supporting young people of color. Someone connected to the organization encouraged her to apply for a sex educator role. After training, she began teaching in schools at 22.

Sex Ed Files carries classroom curiosity onto social media through anonymous Q&As and accessible explanations. Her work centers inclusive education and a learning environment where people can ask about bodies and relationships without shame. She also serves on the Sex Ed Lecture Series advisory board.

She co-hosts Curious Sex Ed with Danielle Bezalel and contributed the chapter “Sex Ed and Social Media” to Fundamental Concepts and Critical Developments in Sex Education. In 2024, AASECT and the Center for Sex Education recognized her work with separate awards.
