How it started.

Marjan grew up in California in an Afghan-American family, one of six children. Her mother’s cosmetology background helped spark her interest in beauty. Working at MAC Cosmetics gave her practice with different skin tones, face shapes and ages, while she studied business marketing at California State University, Northridge.

Finding her audience.

She began sharing beauty content while working and studying. In her interview with Yitzi Weiner, she recalled gaining more than a million TikTok followers in under a year with makeup and ASMR videos. After graduating, she chose content creation over her earlier plan to attend law school.
