Mini bio

How it started.

At Cornell, Mark studied Buddhism, systems theory and Chinese medicine. A roommate studying nutrition introduced him to the connection between food and health; they grew a garden and cooked fresh meals. He went on to work as a rural family doctor, an emergency physician and a practitioner at Canyon Ranch.

From the clinic to readers.

He founded The UltraWellness Center and built a wider audience through books about food and health. His collaborations include The Daniel Plan with Rick Warren and Daniel Amen, which won ECPA’s 2015 Christian Book of the Year. Young Forever later became a number-one New York Times bestseller.

A place for conversation.

In May 2018, he introduced The Doctor’s Farmacy, with journalist Michael Moss as the first episode’s guest. The podcast brought his interests in food, health and policy into long conversations. Today it is called The Dr. Hyman Show, alongside his continuing work as an author and co-founder of Function Health.
