Mini bio
How it started.
Marquese fell in love with dance at 12 after entering a battle at a skating rink in Indianapolis. He lost, then kept practicing. After high school, he served four years as a U.S. Navy navigator and continued dancing. In 2003, he moved to Atlanta to train with other dancers, eventually becoming a founding member of RemoteKontrol and part of Dragon House.
Finding his movement.
His style is animation, built on a foundation of popping. He turns sounds into physical illusions, drawing on water, wind, fire and robotic movement. He told Highsnobiety that his early uploads were a way to check his progress. The following grew from there.
The video that opened doors.
His September 2011 performance to Butch Clancy’s remix of Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” became his breakout. Invitations to The Ellen DeGeneres Show followed. He also founded Atlanta’s Shut Up and Dance competition. Later work includes “Higher” and a “Ninano” dance collaboration with Minzy; his channel continues with solo freestyles and DragonHouse videos.
