Mini bio

How it started.

The Maths with Jay YouTube channel was created on 15 June 2014. By July 2015, Jay was publishing lessons on lattice multiplication; later that year came worked examples using Fermat’s Little Theorem.

Lessons people return to.

The 2018 video Find the nth term in a sequence shows how to build a formula, check it and predict the 100th term. It has attracted more than 1.3 million views. Another widely watched lesson works through the eigenvalues of a 3×3 matrix using an Edexcel further maths exam question.

A broad maths shelf.

Jay’s catalogue reaches from multiplication methods to the Chinese Remainder Theorem. The latter lesson covers a general method and a numerical example, then checks the result in Maxima.

Recent work.

In 2025, Jay published worked lessons on expanding brackets, division and percentages. Some algebra videos offer subtitles and dubbing in several languages. The June 2026 lesson returns to arithmetic with factor pairs for 1000.
