Mini bio

How it started.

Megan grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and became absorbed in guitar at 12. Studying in Nashville opened the door to songwriting and singing. The cover videos began with a birthday request from Jaclyn: a trip to Nashville to make a recording together. Jaclyn persuaded Megan to put it on YouTube.

The breakthrough.

From 2013, Megan built an audience with acoustic covers and mashups featuring Jaclyn and musician friends. In 2015, their three-song “See You Again / Love Me Like You Do / Sugar” arrangement with Tasha Peter reached number one on Spotify’s US and global viral charts.

Finding an original voice.

Bad Poetry arrived in 2017 as Megan’s debut EP of original music. The songs began on acoustic guitar, and recording them meant learning to build fuller arrangements with other musicians. Alongside self-produced recordings from Nashville, Megan took her music on tour, including a European headline run in March 2019.

The sisters make it official.

After years of collaborating while living in different cities, Megan and Jaclyn formed MEG + JAC in 2024. Jaclyn left her physician assistant job to make music full time. The sisters supported Boyce Avenue on the band’s 2024 US tour and released their Love Me Here EP in June 2025. Their 2026 originals include “Can We Go Back” and “Weeds.”

Trivia

  1. The first cover video with Jaclyn grew out of Jaclyn’s birthday wish to visit Nashville and record together.
  2. Guitarist Kaki King was an early inspiration; Megan used one of King’s instrumental pieces for college auditions.
  3. An elbow nerve injury at Belmont kept Megan from playing guitar for six months and led to more time spent songwriting, singing and recording.
  4. Megan and Jaclyn made their 2026 “End of Beginning” cover from separate home studios, with ganjo and mando-guitar parts.
