Mini bio
How it started
Maia grew up in Oakland and began sharing music online as a teenager. In 2017, she uploaded songs made with GarageBand to YouTube and SoundCloud, finding listeners drawn to her open accounts of teenage anxiety.
Finding her voice
After her 2018 EP plum blossom, she released her debut album the masquerade in 2019. Its song “prom dress” became a TikTok breakout, and 2022’s rising took her sound toward disco-inflected pop.
Beyond the bedroom
Maia also provided the singing voice of Alex Chen in Life is Strange: True Colors. On liminal space, she explores the pull between remembering the past and moving forward.
