Mini bio

Growing up on screen.

Nia grew up in Pittsburgh and trained at the Abby Lee Dance Company before becoming an original cast member of Dance Moms in 2011. Fans watched her and her mother, Holly, navigate competitions and the studio’s weekly pyramid rankings across seven seasons. Her 2025 memoir returns to those years from her own perspective.

Finding more ways to perform.

She released the Star in Your Own Life music video in 2015 and made her New York stage debut in Trip of Love in 2016. Acting brought her to The Bold and the Beautiful as Emma Barber and to the lead role of Hanna Brooks in Lifetime’s Imperfect High. She also produced Dance With Nia, a series spotlighting dancers with disabilities.

A life beyond the studio.

Nia studied American Literature and Culture at UCLA and graduated in 2024. In a campus interview, she described joining Icarus Contemporary Dance Company and enjoying a more ordinary college experience after years of homeschooling. Her online work also includes lifestyle posts and her Role Model Monday tributes to people making a difference.

Telling her own story.

Bottom of the Pyramid, published in November 2025, became a New York Times bestseller. In 2026 she returned to the stage in 11 to Midnight and Pittsburgh CLO’s Mean Girls. She now also shares conversations with her mother on Grounded, linked from her official Linktree.
