Mini bio
How it started.
Nothing But Thieves formed in Southend-on-Sea in 2012. Conor Mason sings, Joe Langridge-Brown and Dominic Craik play guitar, Philip Blake plays bass and James Price plays drums. Early EPs, including Graveyard Whistling, introduced the band before their self-titled debut arrived in 2015.
Finding their audience.
The debut reached Number 7 in the UK, and Trip Switch reached Number 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart. Broken Machine followed in 2017, with Amsterdam among its songs, and reached Number 2 in the UK. Moral Panic took the next step in 2020, reaching Number 3.
Building a world.
For 2023’s Dead Club City, they imagined a city-sized members-only club and wrote about the people inside and outside its walls. The concept gave their songs a new setting and became their first UK Number 1 album.
Back to their people.
Stray Dogs followed in September 2026. This time, the focus turned toward the band’s own community, including fans, friends and crew. Its track list was shaped like a live set, bringing the feeling of their shows into a studio album.

- For Stray Dogs, they returned to Angelic Studios, where they had recorded their debut.
- The Stray Dogs interlude (Archive 76) uses fragments of concert crowds and stage chatter processed through Dom Craik’s modular equipment.
- Joe Langridge-Brown took a writing course with food critic Jay Rayner while working toward Dead Club City.
