Mini bio
How it started.
Raised in Anchorage, Luke built a career in criminal defense law before making outdoor videos his full-time work. He earned a political science degree at Brigham Young University and a JD at George Mason University. His fishing channel, Catfish and Carp, began in 2013; Outdoor Boys followed in May 2015.
What fans come for.
Outdoor Boys brings together Luke’s solo wilderness trips and adventures with Rebecca and their three sons. The work ranges from snow shelters and campfire cooking to fishing, blacksmithing and family travel. His Alaska films sit alongside trips farther afield, including a filmed visit to the US Marine Corps’ jungle survival school in Okinawa.
The audience grew.
By May 2025, Luke said the channel had gained about 12 million subscribers in 18 months. In “Goodbye,” he explained that the attention was becoming overwhelming for his family and stepped back from regular uploads. YouTube later placed Outdoor Boys tenth on its US Top Creators list for 2025.
A slower pace.
Three Outdoor Boys films arrived in November 2025, covering Twin Lakes, a remote Bering Sea coast and work at his Alaskan homestead. Luke also filmed for MyLifeOutdoors and discussed his break in an interview there. In 2026, his public appearances included a law-school commencement speech and a devotional at BYU–Hawaii.
