Mini bio
How it started.
Born in the Philippines and raised in Melbourne, Justerini Sandoval grew up hearing classic rock at home. They played in a church band and busked as a teenager. YouTube became both a place to share R&B covers and a way to learn music production.
Finding an audience.
RINI released a self-titled project in 2017. “My Favourite Clothes” grew out of a breakup and became a breakthrough. Hearing a Melbourne audience sing the songs back helped turn music into a serious calling. The 2018 EP After the Sun brought together “Meet Me in Amsterdam,” “Aphrodite” and “Oceane” with Olivia Escuyos.
Songs to grow with.
The 2021 debut album Constellations tells a relationship story, with guests including Wale on “Red Lights” and Maeta on “Over Some Wine.” After 2022’s Ultraviolet, RINI explored more guitar sounds. Lucky 7, released in September 2024, blends R&B with rock, funk and psychedelic influences.
