Mini bio

How it started.

Shani’s route into music production began with remixes at Eagle Studios. In a 2015 interview with The Express Tribune, he recalled Junaid Jamshed hearing one of them and an engineer introducing the two. At 18, Shani produced a track for Jamshed’s Dil Ki Baat, then worked with artists including Faakhir and Shehzad Roy and moved into advertising jingles.

The film breakthrough.

Working with Kamran as the duo Kami-Shani, he took on the music and background score for Main Hoon Shahid Afridi after Humayun Saeed approached them. Na Maloom Afraad followed. His work on Jawani Phir Nahi Ani later earned the Best Music award at the 2016 ARY Film Awards.

His drama work includes singing and composing Tere Bin and Kaffara, and duets with Aima Baig on Fitoor and Raaz-e-Ulfat. His official uploads show how much he does behind the microphone too, with production, programming, mixing and mastering credits. He also sang Nimma Nimma for Coke Studio Season 9.

Another creative outlet.

On his website, Shani also introduces himself as a creative coder. He says a long-standing interest in coding has led him to build music-focused apps with help from advances in AI.
