Mini bio
How it started.
Growing up in a small town in New York state, Shani made face masks as a child and struggled with acne and skin rashes as a teenager. She moved to Los Angeles in her early 20s hoping to model, appeared in music videos, then went back to school to become an esthetician. Working with dermatologist Dr. Erma Benitez helped shape her interest in treating skin and in retinol.
Finding her own way.
She launched Retinol Reform in 2013 after wanting an option her clients could use without the dryness she associated with stronger retinoids. In interviews, she credits client referrals and the facials she gave from her former home’s guest house with helping her practice grow. Jessica Alba encouraged her to open her own space.
From studio to screen.
Shani opened her flagship Beverly Hills studio in June 2019 and announced her first US retail partnership with Sephora in 2020. Alongside treating clients and developing products, she shares skincare advice on social media. Her work connects what she learns in the treatment room with routines fans can understand at home.
