Mini bio
How it started.
Courtney LaPlante and Mike Stringer had played together in Iwrestledabearonce before starting Spiritbox. They publicly launched the band in 2017 in Victoria, British Columbia, and built an audience online before touring became a regular part of their lives.
The breakout.
Holy Roller brought them a wider audience in summer 2020. Their debut album Eternal Blue followed in 2021 and entered the Billboard 200 at No. 13. Its songs move between heavy riffs, atmospheric passages and LaPlante’s clean singing and screams.
Where the songs led.
The Fear of Fear arrived in 2023, including Jaded and Cellar Door. Both songs earned GRAMMY nominations in successive years. Tsunami Sea followed in March 2025, and its track Soft Spine brought a third Best Metal Performance nomination in 2026.

- Secret Garden’s working title was Chino, a reference to the band’s Deftones inspiration.
- LaPlante dedicated Constance to her grandmother, who had wanted her to release a song without screaming.
