Mini bio

How it started.

Stephani B grew up in Manchester and learned drums at school. In interviews, Stephani recalls playing in bands, including a girl band until age 18, before studying at LIPA in Liverpool. Watching Avicii and Calvin Harris helped spark an interest in DJing, while live drums and mashups became a way to bring a personal touch to sets.

From drum pads to records.

Online mixes, remixes and mashups drew an audience from 2021 onward, according to Perfect Havoc. The 2023 debut single “Sober (La Da Dee)”, made with Movada, reworked Crystal Waters’ “Gypsy Woman” and featured Stephani’s vocals. BBC Radio 1 and KISS FM supported the track, and Perfect Havoc announced a management signing in January 2024.

Taking it to the stage.

A partnership with Roland put Stephani’s sampling-pad performances in the spotlight. In 2024, the live act reached Tomorrowland’s Freedom Stage. Solo releases such as “From Paris To Berlin” and “Blade” sit alongside collaborations and Drumbox Radio, a continuing mix series built around house, dance and electronic music.

Trivia

Stephani credits Sheila E. and Buddy Rich as drumming influences; a grandfather introduced Stephani to Buddy Rich’s music.
In a 2025 interview, Stephani said they had reached grade 8 on drums at 15 and still practised rudiments every day.
Roland’s SPD-SX PRO performance video uses MIDI-to-DMX control so Stephani’s pad hits trigger the wall lights in real time.
