Mini bio
How it started.
Before travel became their work, Dave and Deb built careers in Toronto’s film and television industry. A seven-month trip through Southeast Asia in 2004 convinced them to put travel at the centre of their lives.
The leap.
In 2008 they entered the Tour d’Afrique from Cairo to Cape Town. Deb became the women’s champion, while Dave completed every inch of the route. Their hoped-for television career did not materialize, but sharing the adventure helped turn The Planet D into their new path.
What they share.
Their work brings practical destination guides together with personal stories, photography and videos. Their own site reports travels to more than 130 countries across all seven continents. In 2025 they said they wanted to tell more of the story behind travel, including its effects on people and the environment.
