Mini bio

How it started.

Before radio, Zarsanga was a shepherd. A local musician heard her sing at a wedding and introduced her to a radio producer. Radio Pakistan helped her reach listeners across the country.

Songs passed from voice to voice.

Her repertoire draws on landay love poems and the songs of nomadic Kuchi Pashtuns, often accompanied by tabla and rubab.

A meeting of generations.

In 2017 she featured on Zohaib Kazi’s Shinwari Lawangeen. The following year, she sang Rasha Mama with Gul Panrra and Khumariyaan on Coke Studio’s eleventh season, produced and directed by Zohaib Kazi and Ali Hamza.
