Mini bio

Before the kitchen videos.

Adam came to YouTube through music, radio and teaching. He studied composition, worked at WFIU in Indiana and WBUR in Boston, and became Georgia Public Broadcasting’s Macon bureau chief in 2012. He joined Mercer University’s journalism faculty in 2014 and also hosted and produced Current’s public-media podcast The Pub.

The pizza that changed things.

While teaching video production, Adam made cooking videos to practice the skills himself. He uploaded Making New York-style pizza at home in December 2018; it began taking off in March 2019. A video about broiled chocolate chip cookies followed, and cooking eventually became his full-time work after he left Mercer in 2020.

Cooking for a real home.

His recipes leave room for judgment. In his cutting-board steak video, he describes wanting viewers to understand how food should look and feel, rather than simply reproduce a formula. His channel also follows the questions around food, from prices to science, and makes room for music, lifting and aquariums.
