Ahmed Jahanzeb

How it started.

Ahmed grew up in Karachi and began performing as a child, encouraged by his father. In his FUCHSIA interview, he remembered crying during his first stage appearance before finding the confidence to sing. He later trained with sitar maestro Ustad Rais Khan and became known as the Wonder Boy.

Finding his audience.

He took songs including “Aap Ki Yaad” and “Ek Baar Kaho” to Indus Vision, which offered him a job. Director Khalid Ahmed then cast him in Laila Majnoo, where his music found a place too. His albums include Parastish (2003) and Laut Aao (2008).

Songs to return to.

His 2016 Coke Studio debut paired him with Umair Jaswal on “Khaki Banda,” a song written and composed by Shuja Haider. He followed it with “Allahu Akbar” alongside Shafqat Amanat Ali in season 10. His own channel also carries a reprised version of “Kaho Ek Din.”
