Mini bio

How it started.

Born in Brooklyn and raised in the Baltimore suburbs, Alexis graduated from the University of Virginia in 2005. He and Steve Huffman started Reddit that year. Their community-driven site quickly found an audience, and Condé Nast acquired it in 2006.

Making things online.

His work grew beyond Reddit into investing, helping launch Hipmunk and hosting Small Empires, a series about startups and their communities. In 2013, he published Without Their Permission, sharing lessons about building things on the internet. Business Dad later gave him a place to ask other fathers how they balance family and a career.

Building around athletes.

In 2020, he founded Seven Seven Six and helped bring Angel City FC to Los Angeles as its lead founding investor. He also founded ATHLOS, which combines women’s track and field with live entertainment. His more recent sports work includes investing in Chelsea Women and supporting UVA women’s basketball.
