Mini bio
How it started.
Amanat grew up in Faisalabad in a musical family. In an interview with MUSICIAN Showcase, he described learning from his father Nazakat Ali and uncle Hassan Sadiq, then joining the Mekaal Hassan Band as a lead vocalist after college.
The breakthrough.
Winning the 2007 Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Middle East Challenge in Dubai opened the door to the global competition in Mumbai, where he finished third. In his Gulf News interview that year, he recalled daily vocal practice, family support and the excitement of finally having a platform.
Songs fans return to.
His debut album Kohram arrived in 2009. Its track Thumri won Best Indipop Song at the 2010 Mirchi Music Awards, held in January 2011. His playback work includes Khabar Nahi from Dostana, while Coke Studio paired him with Hina Nasrullah for Chaa Rahi Kaali Ghata in 2017.
Beyond the singing.
For Muhabbat Buri Hai, released by Sufiscore in 2021, he wrote the lyrics, composed the song and played harmonium as well as singing. His later work includes the Mere Humsafar soundtrack and devotional recordings such as Main Khushnaseeb Hoon.
