Mini bio
How it started.
Amani began as a blogger who wanted to speak openly about experiences she rarely saw discussed honestly. In her 2019 Bosswatch interview, she said that encouragement from readers helped her personal writing grow into a brand. She credited thoughtful photography and candid storytelling with helping her Instagram grow.
Writing and community.
She joined Sad Girls Club in March 2018 after approaching founder Elyse Fox at a Yale event and offering to help with its blog. By her 2019 interview, she had redesigned its website, recruited contributing writers and become editor in chief.
Living Alone Diaries.
Her Living Alone Diaries became her signature series, pairing everyday life with honest reflections on solitude, dating and self-care. In a 2023 appearance on The Soft Life with Saddie Baddies, she discussed her path from community and social media roles at Rare Beauty and Aritzia into full-time freelance creation.
More matcha, please.
In 2025, Amani brought her personal storytelling to the newsletter more matcha, please. Her essays follow friendship, rest and building a life that feels right to her. That August, she wrote about visiting Colorado for a Kindle campaign and returning to look for an apartment. By February 2026, she was writing from her Denver apartment.

- The drink that started that habit was Matcha in Blue, made with lavender, blue butterfly pea flower, mint and vanilla.
- In her February 2026 essay about friendship and love, she said she was rereading bell hooks’ All About Love.
