Mini bio

How it started.

Raised in Portland by Ethiopian and Eritrean parents, Aminé began releasing projects with Odyssey to Me in 2014 and Calling Brio in 2015. They studied marketing at Portland State before leaving in 2016 to pursue music full time.

The breakout.

“Caroline,” written while Aminé was a Portland State student, reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. A Republic Records deal and the 2017 debut Good For You followed. Later projects include Limbo, TWOPOINTFIVE and KAYTRAMINÉ with longtime collaborator KAYTRANADA.

Where the music goes.

13 Months of Sunshine draws more directly on family history and East African heritage, with narration from Aminé’s father. Its title recalls Ethiopian tourism posters they grew up seeing in family homes, while its songs move through rap, house and UK garage.
