Mini bio
How it started.
In summer 2013, biology teacher Brianna Rapini wanted an alternative to long classroom lectures. A conversation with her sister Sarina Peterson led to an enzyme video. Pinky recorded the first audio on a cell phone, while Petunia drew the pictures in Microsoft Paint.
Two sisters, two strengths.
Brianna writes and narrates as Pinky; Sarina draws and edits as Petunia. Brianna brings a master’s in biological sciences and high school teaching experience. Sarina is a self-taught cartoonist. Their channel grew into full-time work in fall 2017, with lessons aimed at high school biology and useful to introductory college learners too.

Their world includes classroom resources, science GIFs, the Sisterhood comic, and The Amoeba Sisters’ Cartoon Guide to Biology. The book covers 24 major biology concepts. A second edition is scheduled for January 5, 2027.
