Mini bio

How it started.

Before becoming a futurist, Amy worked as a journalist for The Wall Street Journal and Newsweek. That reporting background grew into a practice of using data to explore possible futures. Amy went on to found a digital strategy consultancy and now leads Future Today Strategy Group while teaching strategic foresight at NYU Stern.

A personal story reached a wider audience.

In 2013, Data, a Love Story and the TED talk How I hacked online dating brought Amy’s analytical approach into a very personal setting: finding a partner. The memoir follows the experiments with online dating that led to meeting a future husband.

From signals to possible futures.

The Signals Are Talking shares a method for recognizing meaningful patterns early. The Big Nine examines corporate power and the future of AI. With Andrew Hessel, Amy then wrote The Genesis Machine about synthetic biology and the choices that come with rewriting life.

Thinking in public.

Convergence brings the work into a more personal format, with essays, signals, and forecasts that Amy can revisit as circumstances change. The newsletter is free to read, and its introduction makes room for uncertainty, revisions, and occasional trips into science fiction.
