How it started.
Ashlyn Newlove, known online as Ash, grew up in Saskatchewan and now lives on Vancouver Island. On The Sweat Effect website, she describes trying diets and exercise programs before finding an approach to weight loss that let her keep eating everyday foods she enjoyed. That experience shaped her work as a nutrition coach.
Sharing what she learned.
Through The Sweat Effect and Butterfly Effect the Podcast, Ash built her work around nutrition, fitness and weight loss. The podcast’s 2018–2023 catalogue includes conversations about mindset, business and health, with guests including Dr. Drew Jamieson and nutrition coach Dr. Marc Morris.
From coaching to the kitchen.
Ash says her clients’ struggles with fibre intake led her to create Smart Sip Cream Co. She worked with the Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre on product development and manufacturing, launching the powdered creamer in April 2025. Her official channels now follow the day-to-day work of building the brand.
A new chapter.
By April 2026, her Friends of FEADies interview reported 24 retail locations and more than $200,000 in sales. That September she won Startup Canada’s Victoria pitch competition, followed by the $30,000 national grand finale prize in October.
